Kii Three

Last updated on Jul 5, 2016 By Vivek Ramakrishnan

Kii Three
When small is big!
The audio industry, without sacrificing sound, is now looking at modcons and lifestyle seriously it appears.
Want class leading sound? Tick!
Want full frequency response without having monstrous speakers? Tick
Want everything with minimal number of boxes? Tick
Want to achieve sonic nirvana without having to pull your speakers half way into the room? Double tick!
Finally colours and finishes that match your living space (spouse acceptance factor!)? Done!

Absolute Sound in Surat is now bringing the Kii Three Speakers that addresses all this.  Priced at INR 10,59,990, the wonderfully finished small foot print speaker, each contains six channels of DSP and D/A conversion, followed by a powerful and energy efficient class D N-Core power amplifier (6X250W per channel).
What makes this speaker unique?  Time coherence! It has been designed to surpass the restrictions of small speakers, which radiate bass waves of higher frequency around, and hence you get reflected sound which smears the sound impulse. Using the “Active Wave Focusing Filter” (using front, rear and side focussed drivers fed with the right signal from the powerful amplifiers), the Kii negates the impact of the room and produces the sound hitherto achieved from big speakers. Talk about a 200X400X400mm speakers having an impressive frequency response of 20Hz-25kHz (+/- 0.5%).
With Bruno Putzey of NCore fame as CTO, and several experienced industry experienced professionals at the helm, the speakers brawn is surely made by the brains! Inputs include analogue/AES/EBU – just in case you just cannot live without your favourite DAC or preamp. With digital input, one speaker is slaved to the other using a CAT 5 cable, and volume is set using dithered volume control of the software for computer audiophiles.
It has selectable configuration for free standing, near wall and free standing, as well as eq setting to further tune for listener’s tastes.
Available from July 2016.

About Vivek Ramakrishnan

I attend live concerts at the NCPA in Mumbai. Using both CDs and LPs, I listen to lots of music – classical (late classical era onwards), jazz (mainly 50s to 70s – including free jazz), pop, soul, and rock. Hi fi likes – midrange, tone/timbre, separation, musicality, microdynamics. Dislike brightness and sibilance. Compromises – ultimate slam, pin point imaging, extreme bass, resolution. I am happily married and have 3 daughters who play music.
